Somebody in your house hasn't slept properly in a long time.

Maybe it's you. More likely it's the person next to you, who has been elbowing you at 3am for months and has stopped finding it funny.

These are eight small silicone cones that sit just inside the nostril and hold it open while you sleep. No straps, no machine, no app. You put them in, you go to bed.

Why it works — the actual mechanism

The narrowest point of your entire airway isn't your throat or your lungs. It's a spot a couple of millimetres inside your nose called the nasal valve, and it's where most of the resistance happens when you breathe through your nose.

When that passage is tight, air moves faster and turbulently — and turbulent air over soft tissue is what makes the sound. Worse, a blocked nose pushes you into mouth breathing, which is where the loudest snoring comes from.

The cone is a spring. It holds the valve open so the air moves quietly, and so you can keep your mouth shut.

Eight sizes, and that's the whole point

Nostrils are not standard. The single most common reason a nasal dilator fails is that it was the wrong size — too small and it falls out, too big and it aches by midnight.

This set has four pairs in four different diameters. Start with the middle sizes, work outward, and keep the pair that you stop noticing. It should feel snug and then disappear.

How to use them

  1. Wash your hands and rinse the cones before the first use.
  2. Insert gently, narrow end first, until the flange sits flat against the outside of your nostril.
  3. Breathe in through your nose. It should feel noticeably easier. If it pinches, size down.
  4. In the morning, rinse with warm water and mild soap, dry, and return them to the case.

Being straight with you about who this helps

Snoring has more than one cause, and these only address one of them.

Likely to help if your snoring gets worse when your nose is blocked, if you have allergies or a deviated septum, if you wake with a dry mouth from breathing through it, or if you're already a nose-breather who just needs more room.

Unlikely to help if your snoring comes from the soft palate or the base of the tongue, which is common and has nothing to do with your nose.

Please see a doctor first if you ever stop breathing during sleep, gasp awake, or feel exhausted after a full night. That can be sleep apnea — a real medical condition that no device you buy online should be treating. Get it looked at.

We'd rather tell you this now than take your money and disappoint you.

Questions

Will they fall out during the night?
Not if you've got the right size. The flange sits against the outside of the nostril and holds. If a pair works its way out, go up one size.

Does it hurt?
You feel them for the first couple of nights and then you don't. If a pair is still uncomfortable after three nights, it's too big — try the next size down.

How long does a set last?
Months, with normal washing. Replace a cone if the silicone tears or loses its spring.

Can I use them for sport?
People do, and they're comfortable enough for it. We won't tell you they'll improve your performance — the research doesn't support that, and we're not going to pretend otherwise.

What if they don't work for me?
Unopened sets can go back within 30 days. Because this goes inside your nose, we can't accept opened returns — no store can. If yours arrives damaged or wrong, send a photo and we'll replace it free.

The mechanism

The narrowest point isn't your throat.

It's the nasal valve, two millimetres inside your nose. Squeeze air through a gap that tight and it turns turbulent — and turbulent air over soft tissue is the sound. The cone is a spring. It holds the gap open so the air moves quietly.

Why eight

These usually fail for one reason: the wrong size.

Four pairs, four diameters. Start in the middle, work outward, keep the pair you stop noticing.
